Why Choose Native Linguist for Study Abroad
Document Translation in Phnom Penh?
The documents you need depend on the university, scholarship provider, embassy or visa authority reviewing your application. Before requesting translation, check the latest document checklist from the receiving institution. Cambodian students commonly need Khmer to English translations of the following academic, identity and supporting documents.
• Upper Secondary Education Diploma (Bac II)
Translation of the student’s Cambodian high school diploma for university admission, scholarship or other academic applications.
• Academic Transcripts and Grade Reports
Translation of subjects, grades, examination results and other academic records.
• School Certificates and Enrollment Records
Certificates of study, enrollment confirmations, completion records and other documents issued by a school.
• Birth Certificates and Certifications of Birth
Translation of Cambodian civil-status documents used to verify the applicant’s identity and personal information.
• Family and Residence Documents
Family Record Books, Residence Record Books and certificates of residence when requested by the receiving institution or visa authority.
• Police Clearance and Criminal Record Certificates
Translation of background documents that may be required for visa, immigration or institutional procedures.
• Financial, Sponsorship and Employment Documents
Bank documents, sponsorship letters, income confirmations or employment certificates when required to support an application.
• Other Supporting Documents
Awards, recommendation letters, official correspondence and other documents requested by the university, scholarship provider, embassy or visa authority.
Not every applicant needs every document. If you have a checklist from the receiving institution, send it together with your files so we can identify which documents require translation and whether a Certificate of Translation is appropriate.
Do Study Abroad Documents Need Certified Translation?
Some universities, scholarship providers, embassies and visa authorities require certified translations, while others may accept standard professional translations. The receiving institution determines what it will accept.
Before requesting translation, check whether the institution requires a Certificate of Translation, notarization, legalization, an apostille, a sworn translator or another form of authentication. These requirements may vary by institution, destination country and intended use.
For documents covered by our certified translation service, Native Linguist can issue a signed, numbered Certificate of Translation together with the company stamp. The certification confirms the accuracy and completeness of the translation. It does not authenticate the original document or guarantee acceptance by the receiving institution.
If an official application checklist is available, send it with your documents so we can review the stated translation requirements before providing a quotation.
Details We Check in Study Abroad Documents
Academic and supporting documents are often reviewed together. Differences in names, dates, numbers or terminology across documents may create questions or require clarification. Our review focuses on the following important details.
Names and Identity Details
English spellings of names are checked against a passport or other official identification when available. We also review dates of birth, sex, places of birth and related identity details for consistency.
Academic Terms and Institution Names
School names, qualifications, subjects, grade levels and academic terminology are translated clearly and used consistently throughout the document set.
Scores, Dates and Reference Numbers
Grades, examination results, issue dates, registration numbers and other document references are checked carefully against the original documents.
Seals, Stamps and Formatting
Visible seals, stamps, signatures, handwritten notes and important layout elements are identified and represented appropriately in the translation.
Universities, colleges and scholarship providers may request English translations of Cambodian diplomas, academic transcripts, grade reports, birth records and other supporting documents.
Each institution has its own document checklist, certification requirements and submission format. Applicants should confirm the current requirements directly with the institution receiving the application before requesting translation.
Embassies and visa authorities may request translations of academic, identity, civil-status, financial, sponsorship or police-clearance documents
as part of a student visa application.
Translation, certification, notarization, legalization and apostille are separate procedures. Applicants should confirm which procedures apply directly with the responsible embassy or visa authority.
